Specially Dedicated to SuperCamp Malaysia 2000

Tonight is the first night,
I'm without my friends,
For SuperCamp has ended,
But not so in my mind.

I look back and I say to myself,
Wow - I survived the camp,
And made many good friends,
But this wasn't my thought on the first day...

I arrived just in time,
To load on the bus,
And when I got in,
All I saw was strangers...

Some were mean looking,
Few smiled at me,
More were talking to each other,
I felt as sad as can be.

Day 2 came...
I got to know them all,
Some were still keeping to themselves,
More were chatting with each other...

Then came sharing sessions,
I shared with my team,
My deepest thoughts,
Which I thought only my diary would know.

Each day we built up our trust,
Knowing each other better and better,
Some were still holding back,
But all was solved by Day 3.

Then came Day 4,
All of us embarked on a jungle trek,
Not knowing what lies ahead,
Armed with our trust for each other.

Muddy t'was,
Scary to some,
Fun to a few,
Dangerous to me.

Still we made it...
With the help from our Team Leaders,
And our team members,
Not to forget, the kind guides,
Who gave a hand to us.

Day 5 rolled in,
We rode to Awana,
Flying Fox came first,
Followed by land courses, ending with abseiling.

Help we got some,
Cheers were screamed,
To those who were scared,
Including me.

That very fateful day,
We bade goodbye to fear,
And learnt to take charge of our feelings,
Knowing that WE are the boss,
And feelings are controlled by us!!!

All made it down,
With brand new confidence,
And our trust for each other,
Soared to greater heights.

Day 6, 7 and 8 came and went,
Academic skills were taught,
We absorbed it like sponges,
Knowing that we were to part soon.

Day 9 came,
And we were taught,
Of leadership skills,
And the barrier buried in our hearts.

Each of us were given a plank,
Thick it was, and strong it looked,
On it was written,
Our goals for the day,
And the thoughts which were binding us.

What we thought,
No one knew,
But it was clear,
That the barrier whould be broken,
Before this Camp ended...

Some took one try,
To break that barrier,
Others tried twice, even thrice,
For it wasn't the piece of wood they saw,
But our deepest fear from within.

Nevertheless, we made it,
With cheers from our friends,
Tears were streaming down a few,
As we headed off for affternoon activities.

Time passes quickly,
When we're enjoying ourselves,
And before you can stay STOP,
It's time to bid farewell.

Day 10 finally arrived,
And the sparkle in our eyes dimmed,
As we see the first few signs,
Of our beloved parents and relatives arriving...

Steven and Kristen gave us one last talk.
Telling us to go for it,
Mark, on the other hand,
Tried his best to stop us from flooding the college.

The Team Leaders, oh the Team Leaders,
Had a fairly hard time,
Trying to keep the atmosphere,
As happy as can be...
Each of us graduated.

Although we didn't abide by the rules on Night 9,
And with honours we did,
Making our parents bursting with pride.

We gave each other one last hug,
Did milkshakes as well,
To the Team Leaders we cried,
Thank you so much.

As we exited the ballroom,
Silence slowly crept,
Tears were rolling,
For we were returning to the
not-so-encouraging-world...

But deep down in our hearts,
We all knew that,
No matter what life throws at us,
We'll be able to slam it down with full force.
And when things get depressing,
Or frustrating, and even dissapointing,
'Flexibility' will come in handy,
And so will 'This is it'...
Afterall, we chose to sit on the world of 'No Regrets'.

With Love,
Kelvina Siah, age 16
